Search committee constituted for State Education Commission, two-month salary to be released before Christmas: Govt to SSA teachers

Shillong, Dec 1: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday assured a delegation of Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) that the State government has already constituted the search committee for the State Education Commission to help address the grievances of SSA teachers in the State.

The Search Committee will be headed by the Chief Secretary of the State, in which he will suggest the names for the appointment of Chairperson and members of the State Education Commission.

Aristotle Rymbai, the president of the MSSASA, on speaking to media personnel, lauded the MDA government in the leadership of Conrad K Sangma for taking this bold decision.

Rymbai informed that in the meeting deputy chief minister said that on November 9, the cabinet had approved the setting up the State Education Commission and in this regard the state government has also constituted a Search Committee which is headed by the chief secretary.

“The search committee which is headed by the chief secretary will be responsible in suggesting chairperson and members in the State Education Commission to address the issue and grievances of the SSA teachers in the state” said Rymbai.

Rymbai said that the state government through the State Education Commission has committed to their demands which include – enhancement of salary and to merge and shift all 12541 SSA teachers from state implementation society to state education department.

“So, today we have come to thank the government for this bold step taken by the MDA government under the leadership of chief minister Conrad K Sangma as the cabinet had given an approval to constitute the State Education Commission,” he said.

Rymbai said that in the meeting, they have also discussed the release of two months pending salary for the month of October and November before Christmas.

He added that the deputy chief minister in the presence of education secretary Ambrose Marak has made a commitment to release the two months pending salary before Christmas this year.
