Shillong April 6: The Shnongpdeng Tourism Development Society (STDS) on Wednesday informed that the tourist spots in and around Shnongpdeng have been temporarily closed for tourists following damages triggered by floods.
The Umngot River popularly known as India’s cleanest river is a favourite go-to place for the tourists both national and international alike.
In a statement released by Tellme Talang, the Secretary of STDS, a flash flood on April 10 has damages most of the home-stays along the river bank, boats, ferries, public toilets and the tents at campsites were washed away.
With most of the local residents relying on the river, the STDS had also urged government aid as it will help the residents to recuperate from all the damages by the flood.
