Ampati, Jan 25: Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills, Ch. Ramakrishna, has imposed prohibitory order under Section 144 Cr.P.C strictly prohibiting the movements of person/persons within 100 metres from the India-Bangladesh Border in South West Garo Hills district, between 6 PM to 6 AM in the recent order dated 20th January, 2022 which has come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further order.
The prohibitory order is in view of an apprehension of movements of International Gangs, Criminals and other illegal activities along the Indo-Bangladesh Border within the District, which is likely to result in criminal activities such as smuggling of cattle/contraband goods viz. phensidyl, yaba tabs, ganja, liquor, etc. during night hours from India to Bangladesh.
These smugglers and other anti-national elements gather in large numbers using sharp edged weapon, patrol bombs, crackers, lathis, etc. against BSF personnel causing physical harm to them, while trying to sneak into the Indian Territory during night hours which, if not prohibited, may adversely affect the security of the State.
Besides the injury of BSF personnel on duty, there is an apprehension of serious breach of peace which requires urgent preventive measures to be taken to control crimes and illegal activities in the Indo- Bangladesh Border, due to which this restriction has been issued.
