Shillong, Dec 7: In bid to boost tourism sector in West Jaintia Hills District, the Jaintia Rural Tourism Society is organising the first Southern Slopes Music Concert 2022 on December 10 at the picturesque location of Loomkyntoor resort, Skhen Pyrsit, Amlarem civil sub division, which is about 16 kms from district headquarters Jowai.

Speaking to reporters, Teibor Toi, the president of Jaiñtia Rural Tourism Society, informed that an International band from the United States will be the main performer during the event. He also informed that local bands from Shillong and Jowai – DewDrops, Rum And Monkeys, Seis Euphony, Imprints and Nexus will also perform on December 10. Reggea DJ Earl Gateshead (UK) will be the closing performer.

Toi said the people of West Jaiñtia Hills have been affected by the banning of coal mining, so as a society they are seeking tourism as an alternative source of livelihood.
