Shillong, Mar 2: The SSA teachers on Wednesday staged a mass protest rally from Polo Grounds till main Secretariat here in Shillong demanding immediate release of their 5-months’ salary.

The massive rally, however, was stopped by police force deployed near the Raj Bhavan. From thereon, only six members of the association were allowed to proceed to the Secretariat.

SSA Teachers Association president Aristotle Rymbai led the group to meet with the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui.

The remaining of the crowd then proceeded towards Malki ground as they await for the development of the meeting between the SSA members and the government.

The SSA teachers are also demanding disbursement of additional funds amounting to Rs. 104 crore which is allegedly still lying with the Government for the last few years.
