Shillong, Dec 17: The Meghalaya High Court is of the view that the state should not relent on the vaccination drive but it should also not try to persuade people to take the vaccination against COVID-19.
The Division Bench of the Court comprising of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice W Diengdoh passed the order while hearing a PIL on the matter on Thursday.
“However, the state should not relent on the vaccination drive or trying to persuade people to take the vaccination or even provide for disincentives upon refusal,” the Bench said.
The Bench has also decided to defer the hearing to the first week of February, next year since the number of COVID cases in the state has been on the decline.
