The Meghalaya Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2024 introduced by the opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) legislator from North Shillong Adelbert Nongrum was rejected through voice vote in the Assembly on Tuesday.
Deputy chief minister in-charge Transport Sniawbhalang Dhar on Friday informed the Assembly that government cannot restrict the entry of tourist taxis from outside the state into Shillong.
The opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Friday withdrew its amendment motion to the allocation of time proposed by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) for the current Assembly's autumn session after the government assured to extend the session by 2-3 hours every day.
He said in guideline ‘A. Quantum of Reservation’ the OM provides for reservation of ‘posts’ whereas Resolution dt 12th January 1972 decided on reservation of ‘vacancies’, so the Roster is in conflict with the Reservation Policy.
