Guwahati, March 6: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday reached Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence to discuss government formation in Tripura and Nagaland.
The cabinet structure and government formation was discussed during the meeting.
Sarma is the NEDA convenor and plays an important role during the elections. The meeting was held regarding the government formation of the states where elections were recently concluded.
Nagaland Chief Minister designate Neiphiu Rio also attended the meeting.
The BJP returned to power in Tripura, NPP retained power in Meghalaya and with alliance partners and NDPP – BJP retained power in Nagaland.
PM Modi is likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony in all the three northeastern states with Union Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda.
In Shillong, a special session of the Meghalaya assembly has been convened for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected MLAs and the election of the Speaker.
The BJP-backed NPP-led alliance with 32 MLAs has staked claim to form the next government in Meghalaya, under the leadership of Conrad K. Sangma.
The NPP won 26 seats in the recently concluded election, while its ally, the BJP, won only two seats.
