Towards creating banana value chain: Training on Banana Processing held in North Garo Hills

Resubelpara, Oct 17: With an objective of creating a banana value chain intervention, DPMU-MBDA-MBMA – North Garo Hills in collaboration with Tura Polytechnic -Food Processing Division and IVCS is organising Banana Processing Hands on training for the PG members in all 19 Integrated Village Cooperative Societies Farmers Field School, the first of which was held on Monday.

Banana chips, banana butter, Ready to Serve drinks (RTS), banana jam was prepared.

The first training was held at Bakrime IVCS Ltd at Chima Apal Village, Kharkutta C&RD Block on 16/10/2023. Jiten Singh, HoD, Tura Polytechnic Food Processing Unit along with his staffs is facilitating the program as the Resource Person. Matters related to packaging, branding and marketing was also shared to the participants. Service Providers took initiative to learn from the hands on training as well.

A total of 30 female participants, who are mostly Banana Producer Groups and have received the funds, participated in the program.
