Traffic restrictions in Shillong in view of Lok Sabha counting day

Shillong, May 31: In order to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the Lok Sabha polls counting day on June 4, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has requested the general public to avoid driving vehicles towards the Polo area from 08:00 AM onwards.

The STP has also announced ‘No Entry’ from:

– Golf Link tri-junction towards Polo
– Golf Club Junction towards Polo
– Lumjingshai Junction towards CRPF Junction
– Lumjingshai Junction towards Forest Colony
– Polo Point towards CRPF Junction
– Merin’s Restaurant Junction towards Polo

The Shillong Traffic Police has ordered that vehicles coming from Mawroh Junction will be diverted towards Tiara Restaurant Junction – Pynthorumkhrah – Assam Dairy Junction – Wahumkhrah Bridge (near the rear gate of JN Complex) and beyond. Vehicles will be diverted towards Golf Link Tri-Junction – Tiara Restaurant Junction and beyond. Vehicles will be diverted towards Lawmali – Polo Market – 4th Furlong / Polo Towers Junction and beyond. Vehicles will be diverted towards Matri Mandir Junction / Lawmali and beyond. Vehicles will be diverted towards Golf Club Junction – Tiara Restaurant Junction and beyond.

The Traffic Police announced that ‘No Parking’ shall be imposed around the Polo agglomeration on June 4, 2024, from 6:00 AM until the counting of votes is completed. Therefore, the general public is urged not to park their vehicles around the Polo area. Furthermore, the operation of heavy motor vehicles, including buses, around the Polo agglomeration shall be strictly prohibited on Counting Day.
