Tura, Mar 8: Don Bosco College, Tura, observed International Women’s Day 2022 in a special way by inviting and honouring women who have significantly contributed to the society in one way or another. This International Women’s Day women and inmates of Mother Teresa Home at Tura were the Chief Guests. Wingi Ch. Marak and Maily R. Marak graced the occasion with their presence.
The resource persons who spoke at the occasion were M. K. Lyngdoh, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary DSLA, West Garo Hills, Tura. She spoke on domestic violence and POSCO Act and enlightened the students on the need to be ambassadors to report domestic violence cases to the Social Welfare Department.
Another resource person was K. R. Marak, Deputy Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, Tura. He spoke to the students on the most important issue of substance abuse which is rampant in the state of Meghalaya and Garo Hills in particular. He gave examples of young people who returned back to Garo Hills and getting into drugs and substance abuse. He encouraged the students to stand up against drug abuse and be instrumental in fighting against the abuse by their peer.
Mentionably, the entire programme was planned by the Internal Complaints Cell (ICC) of Don Bosco College, Tura.
