Tynsong dares VPP to present ‘love for jaidbynriew blueprint’

SHILLONG, MAR 21: NPP state president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong has dared the opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) to present a ‘blueprint’ to prove its love for the ‘Jaidbynriew’.

Taking a jibe, Tynsong said that the VPP has been claiming that it is the only political party, which loves the ‘jaidbynriew’ or the ‘indigenous community’.

“But I want to see their (VPP) blueprint. If you say you want to secure the future and that you love the jaidbynriew so much, show me your blueprint, what if I also join you,” he added.

Asking the VPP not to waste its time fooling the people in the name of ‘jaidbynriew’, the NPP state chief said, “If you (Ardent M Basaiawmoit) are a true leader and who truly love his community – you have been MLA for 11 years – show me what your contributions are so that we are convinced that you really love the community.”

Tynsong also recalled that the VPP president had led the people to take the streets against issues related to the building byelaws during the tenure of Mukul Sangma as chief minister of the state and said, “But the protest ended just like that without reaching anywhere”.

“But the question is who was instrumental in resolving the issue (relating to the MUDA encroaching into Sixth Schedule areas)? Was it not in 2018 under the leadership of Hamlet Dohling as Urban Affairs Minister that the issue was resolved after it was taken up in the cabinet? Therefore, I urge the people of Shillong constituency to decide wisely and not blindly believe whatever they say without finding out the facts,” he said.

On the VPP throwing allegations at the NPP-led government, Tynsong however said, “We should not be surprised because we have seen people throwing stones at our party be it in Garo Hills and be it in Khasi Jaintia Hills during the 2023 Assembly elections. But despite that from only 19 seats in 2019, the NPP managed to increase its strength to 26 in the 2023 polls. This clearly shows that all those allegations levelled against the NPP were just issues to fool the people during elections. After all, the people have eyes, ears and brains to judge the works done by the NPP government in the past five years and also one year of the NPP-led MDA.2 government.”

“Now also there are lots of allegations thrown at the NPP especially by the newly floated partym the VPP, which it seems that they don’t have other subjects to speak except to fool the people by claiming that it is the only party, which truly loves the jaidbynriew. In fact, I want them to proof that in what way they truly love the jaidbynriew. I also want to ask the VPP how many inch or kilometres of road have they been able to construct, how many hospitals were build, how many good things you have done for the state of Meghalaya,” he said while questioning the development being brought by the VPP in their four respective constituencies.

Further, Tynsong also slammed the VPP president for attacking church leaders, religious leaders, NGO leaders and political leaders and behaving himself as a “holy person”

“Yes, I have seen the statement of the VPP president that everybody is a sinner. It seems that the only one who is holy here is the leader of the VPP. I am sad that his statement has affected the church leaders and religious leaders, which I feel is a big mistake and should have been avoided. He also accused NGO leaders and political parties of being bad and trying to portray that only leaders of the VPP are holy,” he said.

“In view of this, people are requested to be cautious against such leaders, whose statements are always pointing fingers at others because even the saying says that no one is holy and I see that such allegations are not for the welfare of the society or the state,” he said.

He also reminded that Basaiawmoit had earlier joined the UDP and also was a former president of the HSPDP and said, “That time when you canvas you always claimed that UDP is the best and that HSPDP is the oldest party which fight for statehood and now you are saying they are bad? Therefore, it is for the people to judge and make wise decisions while electing their MP.”

“I urge people to rescue themselves from the floods that come and will disappear within a short span of time,” he said.
