Shillong, Dec 4: Meghalaya were massively defeated by an innings and 358 runs by Mumbai in their last match of the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy on Sunday.
Starting the second day on 349/2, Mumbai lost another four wickets and added 122 runs before declaring on 471/6, some 379 runs ahead of Meghalaya’s first innings total of 92.
Mrinal Das picked up three more wickets on Sunday to add to his one from Saturday to finish with figures of 4/66 for Meghalaya, while Sachin Kumar claimed 1/132.
Mumbai’s Atharva proved to be devastating with the ball in Meghalaya’s second innings, ploughing through the batting line-up with figures of 7/8, including four wickets in a single over (though not a hat-trick). None of the Meghalaya batters got into double figures as the team were dismissed for 21 by Mumbai, who finished as runners-up in Group E.
