Shillong, June 30: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Meghalaya has launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Rajasthan over the throat slitting of a tailor by two men in Udaipur and alleged that Rajasthan was on its way to become a “Taliban” state under the Congress rule.

In a shocking case from Rajasthan’s Udaipur, a tailor who supported Nupur Sharma has been murdered. The killers barged into his shop and brutally slit the tailor’s throat.

Meghalaya BJP state president Ernest Mawrie has appealed to the people of the country to maintain communal harmony regarding this incident.

Mawrie has called upon the people of all sects and said that such barbaric incident has no place in Indian society. At the same time, he said that according to the law, those who committed this act should be given such punishment that no one dares to commit such a crime again.

The Shillong Muslim Union secretary and former Meghalaya government minister and Congress leader Sayeedullah Nongrum also condemned the Udaipur incident, calling such an incident as against the Shariat. “Anyone said anything against Mohammed, then the status of Mohammed would not be reduced… this kind of barbaric act is not allowed by Islam and it is against Shariat,” said Nongrum.

The murder of a tailor, filmed by his killers, has sparked massive tension in Udaipur. Large gatherings have been banned and internet suspended across Rajasthan for 24 hours. The attackers seen on camera, Gos Mohammad and Riyaz, have been arrested.
