Shillong, Sept 17: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Friday told the Assembly that the government is very serious about implementing the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA).
Replying to opposition’s questions on what the MDA government has been doing towards implementing MRSSA, Conrad reminded, “So, which government started the entry-exit point at Umling. Wasn’t it this government that started the Umling entry-exit point and facilitation centre. Wasn’t it this government that started and put in place the different committees and task forces. Isn’t it this government that is preparing an online system today that is going to be implemented for MRSSA.”
He said the government is serious about MRSSA and has taken steps towards it.
He also informed that just one month back he had meeting with the police department and NIC to go through the details of all the procedures of how the MRSSA will be implemented.
“We have decided to pick up pilot projects, there will be a software that’s ready and everything will happen online to ensure that MRSSA will be implemented. And we are very serious about it,” he told the House.
