West Jaiñtia Hills observes ‘Police Commemoration Day’ with ‘West meets North in East’ bike rally

Jowai, Oct 21: The “Police Commemoration Day” was on Friday observed by the West Jaiñtia Hills District Police at the Police Reserve Administration Building, West Jaiñtia Hills, DEF Jowai.

The Superintendent of Police, Bikram D Marak, informed that the day is observed since 1959 as a mark of respect to the police personnel who had laid down their lives for the country.

During the observation, Marak read out the names of 264 personals who had scarified their lives for the country.

The Officials present during the day where Additional SP B. Chetri, the DSP (Hq) C.W. Lyngdoh, the CO of 3rd MLP Bn Chemphang Syrti, the Superintendent of District Prisons & Correctional Services, West Jaiñtia Hills U. Kyndiah, amongst others.

The Superintendent of Police, also flagged off the Bike Rally ‘West meets North in East’ from Jowai for the 3rd BN MLP Sahpsein lead by its Commandant, Chemphang Syrti, while the 6th BN MLP Umran Motorcycle rally was lead by its Commandant, Lakador Syiem. Both rallies met in East Khasi Hills and returned back to their respective Batallion Headquarters.

During the rally, messages about the heroic deeds of our martyrs and police personnel going beyond their call of duty to serve the country the state and the people were publicised through the public announcement system.
