What has happened to Siju Model school? GSU queries authorities

Must read

Tura, May 10: Ten years is a long time for a school to come up, but that is the grim reality in Siju area of South Garo Hills where a central project has been lying half constructed for almost a year, now.

The Siju Model School was sponsored by the central government’s HRD Ministry through the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan scheme (RMSA) in 2012-13 and considerable work did take place with a mega structure coming up.

But, suddenly in 2021, work came to a standstill and has remained that way even till now.

The GSU Siju regional unit have written to the deputy commissioner of South Garo Hills requesting him to initiate an investigation into the project because its delay is hampering the welfare of the students of Siju and far flung areas of the district who otherwise could have benefitted immensely from the institute in the crucial secondary level of their education.
