Tura, Dec 4: One wild elephant caused havoc attacking humans in Tikrikilla on Saturday morning and afternoon, killing two Garo villagers in the process.
The wild elephant first attacked and killed a woman Marsa Marak, aged around 37 years old, at Jamdamgre village at around 6 AM when the lady was coming from her house in Menggotchigre-Ading.
After sending people to run for safety the wild elephant then went through another village nearby called Napakgre where he attacked two persons.
One of the attacked person Bittu Marak, aged around 52, was unable to be helped and saved. He died from the elephant attack.
The other person, Herod Sangma, aged around 55 years, was heavily injured with broken bones and other injuries.
He was taken to Tikrikilla primary health centre and is under treatment.
Wildlife staff have rushed to the attack site and, based on latest inputs, the wild attacking elephant has gone over to Assam side. Alert has been issued to people to be careful after what has happened in Jamdamgre and Napakgre.
