ASHA workers question rationale behind such a meagre daily amount
Nongstoiñ, Nov 13: A large number of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) from West Khasi Hills, affiliated with the Meghalaya ASHA Workers Union, on Monday organized a peace rally in Nongstoiñ, seeking enhancement of their honorarium.
The Peace Rally commenced from the Maternity & Child Hospital (MCH) and concluded with a public gathering at Market Complex in New Nongstoiñ.
Expressing their concerns, the ASHA workers lamented the inadequacy of their honorarium, stating that they receive a meagre Rs. 66 per day when divided. They questioned how they could survive on such an amount.
The peace rally witnessed the participation of notable figures, including M. June Myrsing, the president of the Meghalaya ASHA Workers Union, Linianci Marweiñ, the president of ASHA Workers Union Nongstoiñ, Kyntiewmon Nongshli, the president of Mawsynrut ASHA Union, Srally Rashir, the Sardar of New Nongstoiñ, and other ASHA workers from Aradonga. The public gathering was chaired by Oiñsinora Kharbani.
