Tura, May 11: A woman who was returning from the Nangalbibra market on Saturday, May 7th, was murdered by a man who dumped her body into a stream to hide the evidence. Police have arrested the man and recovered the body.

The victim Purnima Hajong was last seen coming back from the Nangalbibra market by her son Muni Das at Pahar Bahanga accompanied by one Samson A Sangma, who knew the family.

When she did not return home they conducted a search but could not find the body anywhere for two days. It was only on Monday while searching the jungle that they found her slipper and blood stains which led to the Rongmitu Chiring or stream where they noticed a body inside the water. When retrieved they found it was the body of the missing woman. They immediately contacted Nangalbibra police and the prime accused Samson A Sangma of Agal bazar was arrested as he was the last person she was seen with.
