Guwahati, Nov 24: The District Administration of Nalbari organised the ‘Shubh Parinay,’ a mass marriage event held at Sri Sri Hari Mandir in Nalbari town under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative.
During this special occasion, ten couples exchanged vows, partaking in traditional Assamese wedding rituals and engaging in customary wedding games, showcasing the rich traditions of their families.
The celebration included traditional Assamese wedding rituals, featuring customary practices and wedding-time games that added a festive touch to the event. The occasion also highlighted various family traditions, making it a rich and culturally significant experience for all involved.
The event was witnessed by thousands of people from different parts of the lower Assam district.
Responding to an appeal from the District Administration, numerous individuals, including the District Minister, DC, SP, and prominent citizens, have generously stepped forward to offer their blessings and sponsor the wedding expenses of the bride and groom from their personal assets. This heartwarming display of community support underscores the collaborative spirit of the event.
Moreover, the District Administration is also promoting a Green Wedding initiative, ensuring the entire celebration is plastic-free and aligns with sustainable practices.
Varnali Deka, IAS, District Commisioner, Nalbari said, “The idea is that every Beti of the District is a Beti of District administration, of all Departments, Hon MLAs, Ministers and every person of the District and here we will all augment the role of the “Ma’r ghor” or “Mayka” of the girl.”
