Tura, Jan 26: Twelve parade contingents, including 120 Bn CRPF, 2nd MLP Bn, Goeragre, Tura DEF, NCC, Scouts & Guides, and the Band Party of 2nd Bn MLP, Goeragre, presented the March Past as a part of the 75th Republic Day celebration at Matchakolgre L.P. School Field, in New Tura on Friday.

Trophies were awarded to the parade contingents, with Combine Guides Contingent winning the marching contingent (girl guides), Combine Scouts Contingent securing the marching contingent (boy scouts), Tura Government College NCC Girls earning the Best NCC girls, and Don Bosco College NCC Boys receiving the Best NCC boys.

Additionally, thirteen government departments and agencies showcased schemes and services beneficial to the public through tableau presentations. Tura Municipal Board, DCIC, and District Election Office claimed the first, second, and third prizes, respectively, for their tableaus displays.

Police personnel and government employees from various departments were recognised with appreciation certificates for their services as well.

The program also featured cultural performances by various schools and cultural groups, with Tura Public School, Captain Williams School, and Dokaku Cultural Club winning the first, second, and third prizes, respectively.

The Bilgaro Republic Run 2024, organized by TMSC between 2W, 4W, and family categories, marked a significant addition to the event and was flagged off by the Chief Minister after the ceremonies.

And lastly, Roderick D Shira was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the state and the nation as a whole.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma unfurled the National Flag earlier today and took the Rashtriya Salute in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Jagadish Chellani, officials of the District Administration, other district officials, at the Matchakolgre L. P. School feild, New Tura.
