Tura, August 03: In one of the most shocking and chilling murders to grip Garo Hills, a young teenage girl has been found murdered with her throat slit in Bikonggre area of West Garo Hills on Thursday.
The crime was so heinous that the act of violence had resulted in her neck and head being almost severed from the attack.
A neighbour of the victim is a suspect as he has gone missing since the time of her disappearance.Police are currently not ruling out the rape angle as well and the autopsy report is awaited.
The incident took place in Jengrapara area of Bikonggre under Phulbari police station, inform police sources.
The suspected rape and murder crime seems to have occured on a day the family left the house to participate in a funeral in the village.
The 12 year old daughter had accompanied her parents to pay their last respects to the family of a villager who had passed away.
Funerals in the villages usually witness participation of the entire village community.
She was sent back to the house to switch off the lights, but failed to return to the funeral home, according to sources.
When the parents returned after spending considerable time at the funeral they were left in shock to find their daughter in a pool of blood behind the house with her throat slit and her head decapitated.
A manhunt is now on for her neighbour who has been missing since the time of the incident.
