14th North East Riders Meet in Tura from Dec 5-7, to focus on beauty & hospitality of Garo Hills

Tura, Dec 4: The picturesque town of Tura in Garo Hills is set to host the 14th edition of the North East Riders Meet (NERM) from December 5 to 7. The event will take place at Asibra Estate and is organized by NH 51 R.E.B.E.L.S, a Royal Enfield Motorcycle Club established in Tura in 2008.

NERM is one of India’s biggest motorcycling events, drawing participants from across the northeastern states, other parts of the country, and even neighbouring nations like Nepal and Bhutan.

The three-day event will feature camping, cultural performances, sporting events, and daily concerts showcasing top bands from the Northeast and Mumbai. The event aims to celebrate the spirit of motorcycling while promoting the scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage of Garo Hills.

The event is expected to provide a significant boost to local tourism as well. Riders will explore tourist destinations in and around Garo Hills before and after the meet, with many opting to stay in campsites and homestays in Tura. Local entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to set up stalls selling traditional artifacts and crafts, offering visitors a taste of Garo culture.

NH 51 R.E.B.E.L.S, speaking to Hub News, expressed pride in bringing NERM to Tura and highlighted the event as an opportunity to showcase the hospitality and warmth of the Garo community to the world.

The organizers have called upon the local community to support the event. Small gestures such as greeting riders or assisting them in emergencies were emphasized as key to making the event a memorable experience.

The motorcycle club also expressed gratitude to the Government of Meghalaya, Meghalaya Tourism, and event sponsors for their backing. They reiterated that the success of NERM would not only be a testament to Garo Hills’ hospitality but also a chance to place the region prominently on India’s tourism map.
