Acting on the directions of NDRF Headquarters, the Mobilisation Drill involved the deployment of 18 teams under the close supervision of Mr H.P.S. Kandari, Commandant, 1st Battalion NDRF. More than 550 rescuers, including Mahila rescuers and members of the Canine squad, participated in the large-scale exercise. The teams were swiftly mobilised and deployed within the stipulated timeframe to designated locations: Mini Stadium Sonapur in Kamrup Metro District (Assam), near the banks of the Gomati River in Gomati District (Tripura), and Village Chungtlang in Mamit District (Mizoram).

The two-day drill, which commenced in the early hours of April 26 and concluded on April 27, simulated flood water rescue scenarios, reflecting the frequent monsoon challenges faced by the region. The exercises focused on key areas such as rapid mobilisation, search and rescue operations, evacuation of affected individuals, and pre-hospital treatment in both rural and urban environments.

Designed to rigorously test operational readiness, the drill also aimed to strengthen coordination among various response agencies, ensuring seamless and effective disaster response during emergencies like floods, landslides, and earthquakes.

The 1st Battalion NDRF has consistently been at the forefront of disaster response efforts in Northeast India, having played pivotal roles during past calamities. Through this comprehensive monsoon preparedness initiative, the NDRF has once again reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and livelihoods across the region.
