Tura, Feb 7: Two separate fire breakouts in Rajabala and Dadenggre region of West Garo Hills has resulted in destruction to a house and commercial establishments in the last three days.
The first fire incident was reported from Tilapara village of Rajabala constituency on Friday where a house belonging to 30-year-old Kazi Zaman was destroyed.
The fire occurred at 6:30 in the evening when the fire spread across his house destroying his dwelling including the kitchen.
Zaman lost almost everything in that fire including household items that consisted of 4 beds, closet, dressing table, computer laptop, mobile phone, gold ornaments, groceries for his shop and several important documents such as an election id card, pan and aadhar card and land documents. The estimated loss has been put at Rs 3 Lakh.
In the second fire incident which happened at Rom Bazar under Dadenggre civil subdivision on Saturday night, at about 1 AM, two shops owned by Prinbath A Sangma which sells clothes and shoes was destroyed. A grocery shop next door owned by Namseng M Sangma was also destroyed in the fire. Estimated damage in the fire has been put at approximately Rs 6 lakhs.
In both the fire incidents, the police department’s Fire and Emergency Services teams were able to douse the flames before it could spread further.
