29 Bangladeshi Nationals, 7 touts detained, drugs worth Rs 2 Crore seized in Tripura

Agartala, March 11: The Border Security Force (BSF) has detained 29 Bangladeshi nationals and seven Indian touts over the past four days during an intensified operation in Tripura.

Between March 6 and 10, BSF troops apprehended these individuals in various locations across Tripura.

According to the BSF, the operation was carried out in Lankamura, Nischintpur, Harnakhola, Agartala Railway Station (West Tripura district), Churaibari Railway Station, Dharmanagar (North Tripura district), Sabroom (South Tripura district), and LK Para (Gomati district).

“The BSF battalions have conducted over nine village coordination meetings in border areas to address the concerns of the local population. The BSF continues to enhance its surveillance and intelligence capabilities to ensure the safety and security of the nation,” said a BSF official.

The official further stated that in the first week of March 2025, BSF troops successfully thwarted several smuggling attempts, seizing a significant quantity of narcotics, cattle, rice, and other contraband items worth Rs 2.88 crore. Additionally, 280.67 kg of ganja was confiscated.
