2nd Northeast Olympic Games 2022: Arunachal and Manipur claim gold in men’s wrestling

Shillong, Nov 16: On the concluding day of the 2nd Northeast Olympic Games 2022, the wrestling events were held. In the Wrestling Freestyle 79kg weight category (men), Arunachal won Gold.

Janwang Khimhuin of Arunachal Pradesh lived up to his moment by winning Gold medal at the 22nd NEOG in wrestling. In a thrilling final, Khimhuin relegated Abishek Adhikari of Manipur in the last seconds of the match, claiming the gold medal while Adhikari had to settle for Silver. Bronze medal went to the two States, R. Vanlalnghaka of Mizoram and Venu Vadeo of Nagaland.

In the 86kg Men Wrestling Freestyle, N. Tyson Singh of Manipur took the first Gold after beating Mizoram wrestler R.B. LalthanSanga in a final match. Mizoram had to settle with a Silver medal in the second position. Two states with a Bronze medal were Assam (Gautam Narzary) and Arunachal (Miren Tayeng).
