Guwahati, May 10: In a significant development affecting air travel across northern and western India, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced the temporary suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports from May 9 to May 14, 2025. The suspension will remain in effect until 0529 IST on May 15, 2025, as per a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued by AAI and other aviation authorities.
The affected airports include major and regional facilities such as Amritsar, Srinagar, Chandigarh, Jammu, Leh, and Bhuj, along with smaller airstrips like Adhampur, Pathankot, and Uttarlai. AAI cited “operational reasons” for the closures but did not provide further details.
In addition to airport closures, NOTAM G0555/25 (superseding G0525/25) has outlined the suspension of 25 Air Traffic Service (ATS) route segments in the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs). These route segments will be closed from ground level to unlimited altitude until 2359 UTC on May 14, 2025 (0529 IST on May 15).
Airlines and private operators have been instructed to plan alternate routings and schedules to accommodate the disruptions. The move is being coordinated with relevant Air Traffic Control (ATC) units to maintain operational safety and limit passenger inconvenience.
Travelers are advised to check with their airlines for updated schedules and alternative arrangements during this period.
