Tura, Jan 8: In a major anti smuggling operation along the Garo Hills border belt with neighbouring Bangladesh on Friday, vigilant troops of the 55 Bn BSF met with success by confiscating tons of clothing that were being smuggled across the border.

BSF troops from the border outposts (BOP) located at Netri and Rasnagiri of 55 Bn BSF under Meghalaya Frontier carried out the operation in South Garo Hills district Border and seized huge quantity of clothing items worth approximately Rs 32 lakhs during an attempt to take it across the international border.

The seized items were later handed over to Customs for further legal action.
