4 Bangladeshi infiltrators, 2 drug traffickers arrested in Agartala Railway station

Agartala, May 25: In a major operation, the Railway police at Agartala railway station nabbed four Bangladeshi infiltrators and two drug traffickers of Bihar on Thursday.

The arrested infiltrators have been identified as Suklal Debnath, Rojina Begam, Ruma Aktar, and Kakuli Begum, all from Jamalpur under Narayanganj in Bangladesh.

The drug traffickers who were also arrested has been identified as Purushotta Kumar and Charan Kumar.

Talking to reporters, Tapas Das, officer-in charge of the GRP at Agartala railway station, said, “we had an information regarding the movement of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators in Agartala railway station. When we approached to the railway station, we identified four suspected people in the railway station and they were running to catch the express train. The four Bangladeshi citizens were detained and subsequently arrested for entering Indian territory without valid legal documents,”.

Das said that the individuals were preparing to board the Tripura Sundari Express and intended to travel to Delhi and Kolkata when they were detained.

“A case has been registered against them at the GRP station (under the IPC, Foreigner’s Act, and Passport Act). They will be produced in court with an appeal for police remand,” said Das.

Additionally, the GRP arrested two drug traffickers in possession of packets of dry marijuana while attempting to smuggle it to Bihar.

“We have also arrested two drug peddlers along with 22 kg of dry ganja (marijuana) which they were transporting to Bihar. They have been identified as Purushotta Kumar and Charan Kumar, both from Bihar. An NDPS case has been registered against them, and they will also be produced in court today seeking police remand for further interrogation,” the official said.
