Shillong, Aug 18: Four arrested members of the National Liberation Council of Nongkyndong (NLCN) from Jaintia Hills were on Friday brought to Shillong and produced before the Court, which remanded them to 10 days of police custody.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range) Davis NR Marak said that there has been no new arrest made. “Only those four, who were arrested in Jowai, were brought and produced in the Court today,” he said.
The Court has remanded them to ten days of police custody.
So far, 11 leaders and members of the NLCN have been arrested. Marak said all accused have now been brought to Shillong for further interrogation.
Two including the woman and a member, who was brought from Jowai on Friday, have been hospitalized.
He said the woman had claimed that she is 3 months pregnant but when initial test was conducted, it was found to be negative. Therefore, the doctors have hospitalised her for observation.
The DIG further informed that operations are on to nab the other members of the outfit. “We expect to arrest some more in the coming days but that will happen only after we are able to interrogate them during the police custody,” he said.
