Shillong, Sept 2: Four persons from Nagaland have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a recent robbery of over Rs. 4 lakhs from the Umran petrol pump in Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya.
The incident had taken place on August 25, 2024, when the four-member gang assaulted the manager and staff of the Umran petrol pump, Niangbyrnai and looted away Rs 4,24,614 along with 3 mobile phones.
The district police on September 1, arrested three persons involved in this case from Dimapur district, Nagaland. They have been identified as Bokavi Zhimomi (25), Pashen Lam (32), Rokongulie Keppu (18), Ri Bhoi SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said on Monday.
During preliminary interrogation, the SP said the arrested persons admitted their involvement in the said case, and added that the accused persons are being produced in district court for 5-day police remand.
Further, the SP informed that the fourth accused has been detained by Tuensang district police, Nagaland and a team of Ri Bhoi police is on the way to bring the culprit and he will be produced in court.
The Bolero vehicle (NL 07 CB 0156) has also been seized which was used by the gang in the robbery.
