Tura, Aug 14: The 4th Inter Mahari Men’s Football Tournament witnessed an entertaining match on Wednesday as defending champions A’gitok Mahari took on Rechil Mahari at the Chandmari Football Turf.
The stands were filled with excited fans who came to witness the A’gitok team play as they had won the previous Inter Mahari Football tournament. And they were not disappointed as A’gitok Mahari defeated the Rechil Mahari by 3-0.
Bhupen D. Marak opened the scoring for A’gitok Mahari with a well timed header in the 18th minute mark. Following him soon after was Chengkal A Sangma adding to the lead with a goal in the 20th minute.
In the 24th minute mark, Bhupen D Marak again found the back of the net, eventually ending the first half with a 3-0 scoreline.
The second half of the game remained goalless, as both teams were unable to convert chances. The A’gitok team maintained good ball possession, while Rechil Mahari struggled for a comeback.
No cautionary yellow cards were awarded in the game.
The next game is scheduled on August 16, between A’gitok Mahari and Mankin Mahari in the women’s category.
