Tura, Aug 8: The day-4 of the 4th Inter-Mahari Men’s Football Tournament 2024 witnessed an exciting match between the Chambugong Mahari and the Rangsa Mahari at the Chandmari Football Turf in Tura on Thursday.
The first half of the game saw a goalless match as both teams tried their best at scoring but were unable to convert chances.
In the second half, Chambugong Mahari broke the deadlock with Tremarchwal Ch Marak scoring in the 39th minute. Rangsa Mahari equalised the scoreline after 12 minutes as Nikcheng Chuman R Marak found the back of the net in the 51st minute.
As both teams scored one goal each within the stipulated time, the match culminated into a penalty shootout tie breaker.
The Chambugong Mahari won in the penalty shootout by 4-3 goals.
Kebanji Ch Momin of Chambugong received a yellow card in the 10th minute for cautionable offense.
Interestingly, Weightford R Marak, physiotherapist of Rangsa team, also received a yellow card in the 10th minute for entering the field of play without the referee’s permission.
That match also had a sizeable audience with fans from both sides coming to the venue to cheer their teams.
The tourney is being played on a knockout basis, with the teams both in the Men’s and Women’s category competing for the coveted trophy and prize.
There will be no matches of the men’s category on Friday. The next match will be played on August 10th at 2:15pm between Mankin Mahari and Daring Mahari.
