Tura, Aug 7: The Day-3 of the 4th Inter-Mahari Men’s Football Tournament witnessed two spectacular matches at the Chandmari Football Turf on Wednesday. The first match was between Ampang Mahari team and Chada Mahari team, and the second match was played between Mangsang Mahari team and Dajel Mahari team.
The first match between the Ampang Mahari team and the Chada Mahari team was a thriller with Ampang it by 3-2 after a lot of struggle.
Chesrang A Sangma opened the scoring for Ampang with a penalty goal in the 21st minute. But Chada team immediately equalised the scoreline with a penalty goal by Gringgrang Chada also in the 21st minute.
Danby A Sangma found the back of the net in the 28th minute, giving lead to the Ampang Mahari team in the first half. But Chada Mahari came back strongly in the second half and Salgrim Chada scored the equalizer in the 50th minute.
However, it was meant to be Ampang Mahari’s day as Danby A Sangma scored his second goal of the match which also turned out to be the match winning goal in the 54th minute.
Gutcheng Chada of Chada Mahari team received the cautionary yellow card in the 35th minute, whereas Clinton A Sangma and Chesrang A Sangma of Ampang Mahari received their cautionary yellow cards in the 21st and 30th minute mark, respectively.
The second game of the day saw a goalless match between Dajel Mahari team and Mangsang Mahari team which culminated into a penalty shootout to determine the winner. The Mangsang Mahari team won in the penalty shootout by 4-2.
No cautionary yellow cards were issued in this game.
There will be two matches played on August 8: The 2nd Women Inter Mahari Football Tournament will commence with its maiden match, where the Maji Mahari women’s team will be going against the Dawa Mahari women’s team at 1:45pm at the Chandmari Football Turf.
This will be followed by the men’s category Mahari match between Chambugong Mahari and Rangsa Mahari at 3:15pm.
