Speaking at the event, Mayral Born Syiem commended the Weavers Service Center for organising such an expo in Ri Bhoi district, a region known for having a significant number of weavers, particularly in Nongtluh, which is famous as the Eri Silk Village. He emphasised the uniqueness of the final fabrics produced by their weavers, highlighting the use of natural dyes without any artificial colouring. However, he expressed his discontent with people from outside the state taking credit for products made by the local weavers. He also mentioned that the government is actively working to obtain a Geographical Indication (GI) tag for these products.

Mayralborn further announced his commitment to work with the government to establish a weavers service center in the state. He also expressed his intention to revitalise the tourist circuit in the Nongpoh area to stimulate tourism in Ri-Bhoi district, recognising its potential for providing employment opportunities and fostering all-around development.
