Shillong, April 3: The Superintendent of Police (SP) of East Khasi Hills, Rituraj Ravi, informed that five unknown miscreants entered the parking area of Mawlai Police Station and hurled a petrol bomb at a police Gypsy vehicle in the early hours of Wednesday.
SP Rituraj Ravi also stated that the incident occurred around 02:40 AM. The police vehicle that was torched bears registration number ML02-0194, and the SP further added that the vehicle suffered major damage.
SP Rituraj mentioned that a case has been registered at Mawlai P.S under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.
However, the SP did not provide information on whether the culprits have been identified or if the attack on the Police Station at Mawlai is linked with the arrest of the two Khasi Students Union (KSU) members. Nevertheless, he mentioned that the investigation into the case is ongoing.
