Tura, Jan 18: The second day of swimming events, on the third day of the 5th Meghalaya Games, witnessed intense competition and remarkable performances from athletes representing various districts on Wednesday.

On the second day of Swimming competition, East Khasi Hills District emerged as a dominant force in the pool, garnering a total of 11 gold, 11 silver, and 10 bronze medals. South West Khasi Hills District displayed noteworthy achievements, securing 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. East Garo Hills District, similar to East Jaintia Hills and Eastern West Khasi Hills District, did not secure any medals on the second day of the swimming events.

Banpynshngainlang Syngwan was awarded the Best Swimmer in Men’s category while Pdiangsuklang Syngwan was adjudged the best among the female swimmers.

In the overall medals tally for swimming, East Khasi Hills District maintained its dominant position with a total of 20 gold, 17 silver, and 20 bronze medals. East Jaintia Hills District secured 1 silver, showcasing their resilience. South West Khasi Hills District added to their success with 3 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze medals, and Eastern West Khasi Hills District and East Garo Hills District continued their participation without securing any medals in this category.

Alvinson Shylla emerged victorious securing the 1st position.
The 2nd position was claimed by Cleric J. Wanniang from EKH.
Atiar B. Bareh, also from EKH, secured the 3rd position.

Back Stroke – 50m(Women):
1st -Badapjingkyrmen Thongni – SWKHD
2nd- Ilarisuk Youroi – EKH
3rd- UTMY Syngwan – EKH

Butterfly Stroke – 50m(Men):
Banpynshngain Syngwan from EKH clinched the 1st position.
Mebankitboklang Banai from EKH secured 2nd place.
James Anderson Kharlyngdoh from SWKHD grabbed the 3rd position.

Butterfly Stroke – 50m(women):
1st-Pdiangsuklang Syngwan – EKH
2nd-Tvisha Jalewa – EKH
3rd-Sa-i-Banbet Z. Wanniang – EKH

Breast Stroke – 50m(Men):
Elberz W Kharbani from EKHD emerged victorious.
Cleric J. Wanniang from EKHD claimed the 2nd position.
Khrawkupar Lyngdoh from SWKHD secured the 3rd position.

1st-Ilarisuk Youroi – EKH
2nd-Sumarbaing Mawlong – EKH
3rd-Gail D. Syiem – EKH

Free Style 50m(Men):
