Shillong, Feb 15: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya organised a 6.5 km run in the city on Thursday to promote the youths for the upcoming Khelo India University Games 2024.
Beginning from the NEHU campus and looping through Mawkynroh, Sanker Road, and back, the event drew eager participation from athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike.
Colonel Omkar Singh (Retd.), Registrar of NEHU, flagged off the run alongside John F Kharshiing, Working President of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, and other dignitaries.
Dabit Dkhar clinched victory in the Open Category Male, while Marqueenless Ramseij secured the title in the Open Category Female. In the Open Category Above 50 years, Badon Singh Tham (Male) and Ibameri Shullai (Female) were awarded prizes.
Colonel Omkar Singh (Retd.), Registrar of NEHU, highlighted the initiative’s importance in promoting athletes on the international stage. He emphasized the government’s commitment to nurturing talent, enabling athletes to compete at the highest levels and bring pride to the nation.
