Itanagar, Feb 26: As many as 8 National Socialist Council of Nagalim(NSCN) cadres were surrendered before Arunachal Pradesh Police in Longding district on Thursday.

The rebels laid down their arms before the SP of Longding district.

“The surrender of the 8 rebels is a result of concerted efforts and relentless pursuit by the district police and the Assam Rifles. The surrendered rebels held important positions in their respective outfits,” said Longding SP Vikram Harimohan Meena.

He also informed they are involved in many extortion-related activities.

Deputy Commissioner of Longding district Bani Lego was also present when the rebels surrendered.

The surrendered NSCN cadres have urged other rebels to shun violence and join the mainstream.
