Shillong, Nov 29: A total of 90 police personnel from North Eastern states graduated from the North Eastern Police Academy (NEPA) during a grand passing-out parade, also known as the Dikshant Parade, held on Friday.
The graduating batch included 27 Deputy Superintendents of Police (Dy SP Probationers), 2 Inspectors, 56 Cadet Sub-Inspectors (SIs), and 5 Cadet Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) hailing from Meghalaya, Manipur, Assam, and Nagaland.
The batch comprised 6 DySPs and 40 SIs from Meghalaya, 14 SIs from Assam, 13 DySPs and 6 SIs from Manipur, and 8 DySPs and 3 SIs from Nagaland. The officers, who began their training on December 4, 2023, were formally inducted into active service during the ceremony, which was reviewed by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
Sangma addressed the gathering and officially commissioned the officers into the police force. He commended NEPA’s remarkable contributions over the past 46 years, during which the institution has trained over 36,088 personnel. He emphasized the value of humility in policing, urging the newly commissioned officers to serve with dedication and empathy.
“While you now hold positions of authority, always remember the importance of humility. Stay grounded, serve with dedication, and remain true to the responsibilities entrusted to you,” Sangma advised the graduates.
The parade was commanded by DySP Probationer D. Theingam Thangal of the Manipur Police Service, reflecting the discipline and rigorous training imparted by NEPA. Danesh Rana, IPS, Director of NEPA, administered the oath of service to the officers.
The event witnessed the presence of senior officials from Assam and Meghalaya, special invitees, the families and relatives of the graduating officers, as well as NEPA staff and in-service trainees from the Explosives and Bomb Disposal Course and the Training of Trainers (ToT) program on Disaster Management.
The ceremony highlighted the commitment and professionalism of NEPA in producing highly capable officers ready to serve their communities and strengthen law enforcement in the region.
