Aadya Foundation: Recognized for Innovation in Supporting Individuals with Down Syndrome

Tura, May 25: Aadya Foundation, co-founded by Dohaapia D. Momin and Silchina Momin, has been honored for its innovative approach to supporting individuals with Down syndrome. The foundation, committed to empowering these individuals to reach their full potential through comprehensive support and inclusive programs, recently received recognition at the UNDP’s 6th Youth Co:Lab National Innovation Dialogue.

Dohaapia D. Momin, a 21-year-old student in her second year of B.Sc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics at the College of Community Science, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Tura, Meghalaya, clinched the runner-up prize in Theme 3: Assistive Technology and Solutions. Her achievement highlights the foundation’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome.

Hailing from Forest Tilla, Tura, Dohaapia is the daughter of Misrol Momin and Enpen G. Momin. Her dedication to improving the lives of individuals with Down syndrome has not only brought her personal accolades but also shone a light on the critical importance of inclusive support.

Aadya Foundation’s award-winning initiatives include an Early Intervention Program designed to maximize the development of children with Down syndrome, helping them reach essential developmental milestones.

The foundation provides personalized support with tailored interventions that address the holistic needs of individuals with Down syndrome. Additionally, Aadya offers inclusive educational and social opportunities, ensuring a well-rounded development for its beneficiaries. The foundation is also a strong advocate for the rights and acceptance of individuals with Down syndrome in society.

Currently in her second year, second semester at the College of Community Science in Tura, Dohaapia D. Momin’s commitment to her studies in Nutrition and Dietetics complements her work with the Aadya Foundation. Her achievements at such a young age serve as an inspiration, showcasing the positive impact that dedicated support and advocacy can have on the lives of those with Down syndrome.
