Shillong, Jan 11: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Meghalaya, on Thursday demanded immediate stay of the results declared for appointment of assistant teachers in government lower primary schools under Dadenggre subdivision, West Garo Hills District to pave way for investigation into the alleged discrepancies.
In a letter to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, state secretary of the ABVP Meghalaya, Tengku M Marak, said the recently declared results by the education department for the post of assistant teacher to government lower primary schools under Dadanggre subdivision for MTET passed candidates especially for the unreserved category has raised many questions as there was absolutely no tribal candidate featured in the UR category list.
The results were declared on January 10, 2024.
“(Therefore) the government must give the stay order in this recruitment process. There must be proper investigation to bring out the reasons for such discrepancy in the results,” Marak demanded.
The AVBP leader also raised five questions and demanded the education department to answer. He asked, “Was no tribal brothers and sisters equally competent that none of them got featured in the UR category list? How is it that only one community dominated all the 33 seats of UR category out of 34? Is not other community in that region not educationally competent to the aforementioned post? The education department of that district is using all the resources to educate that particular community? Who is responsible for creating such educational divide that one community is so competent and other communities are not competent at all?”
He reiterated that the ABVP strongly demands proper investigation and bring justice to the deserving indigenous candidates of the State.
