Tura, March 24: The ACHIK Krima Council on Monday shut down several shops and factories in Tura for failing to comply with health regulations and operating without proper licensing.
Among the establishments closed was shop no. 146 in the Supermarket, which was allegedly found storing food in a toilet. Additionally, another shop and a factory in Nakam Bazaar and Gariamat were sealed due to the absence of a valid Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license.
Interestingly, one of the shops in Nakam Bazar was selling bread with a validity of upto 45 days!
According to the council, some business owners continued operating despite being instructed to shut down until they obtained the necessary license(s).
AdvertisementThe pressure group has decided to hand over the keys of the shut down shops and factories to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of West Garo Hills. It also seeks further action against erring traders and businesses from the district administration.
