Tura, April 4: The ACHIK Me·chik dol has reiterated that the organisation will not compromise on the cut-off date and the demand for ‘Winter Capital’ in Tura.
ACHIK Me·chik dol Secretary, Reche Chambugong Wa·ge, has asserted that the ACHIK organisation stands firm on its stance to fill the backlog of the Garo quota, which has been denied for over 50 years since the statehood.
She emphasised that it is the right and entitlement of the Garos/A·chiks to be given their due rights under the Job Reservation Policy, and the people of the region have suffered enough.
“The verdict of the Roster system in the Job Reservation Policy has highlighted the injustice being done to the A·chik people for half a century. Hence, it is imperative for the Garos to take a stand on this issue,” she said in a press statement.
Furthermore, Wa·ge stated that the demand for the fulfilment of the Winter Capital or second capital in Tura is another priority that the organisation will not compromise. “ACHIK Organisation is grateful for the support extended by many organisations on the issue of Winter Capital in Tura,” she said and hoped that their Khasi brethren will also support them in this demand, which is legitimate and justified.
She affirmed that the ACHIK Organisation remains steadfast in its commitment to achieve their demands and will continue to work towards the welfare of the A·chik people.
