SHILLONG, Sept 5: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday said action will be taken if the land at Maxwelton Estate has been occupied by illegal settlers.
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said that the issue is under the Deputy Commissioner (Revenue). “The DC revenue will take necessary action if found to be true that illegal occupation takes place over there,” he said.

On September 1, The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) had demanded deputy commissioner of East Khasi Hills to evict the “illegal settlers” from the Maxwelton Estate, which is a 9 acres of land falling under the jurisdiction of the dorbar shnong of Kench’s Trace Oxford Rilbong (KOR) here.
