Tura, May 14: As the number of active cases in West Garo Hills touch 392 by Friday, deputy commissioner Ram Singh has given an order directing complete lockdown tomorrow and Sunday across the district, particularly Tura town.
With a fresh number of infections, 55 new positive cases, on Friday, DC Ram Singh said that the weekend closure will be total and asked people to stay home unless there is a medical emergency.
On Friday, despite covid guidelines being asked by the public to adhere to, Tura bazaar witnessed chaotic scenes with a large number of people rushing to buy groceries and other essential items in view of the upcoming two day weekend lockdown. Streets were packed with pedestrians and vehicles as the public went on a shopping spree during the morning hours.
