SHILLONG, JULY 3: At least 6 African nationals were detained in West Jaintia Hills. However, three were later released.

Identified as Enock Kwabena (29), Olaleye Joseph Mayowa (26), Moses Zutah (24), Guilavogui Victor (25), Kehinde Edris Olayimka (26) and Vidal Luis Chissano (25), the six were detained during a highway patrol by the district police on July 1.

All were travelling in a tourist vehicle ML-05-T-3049 on NH-6.

On verification, police found that only three of the six have valid documents and were released on July 2, while the other three who could not produce any valid documents were detained and a case has been registered against them under appropriate sections of the law.
