After attack on border outpost, Meghalaya DGP says police will communicate with the BSF

Shillong, June 26: The Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya, Dr LR Bishnoi on Monday said that the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel stationed in the bordering areas of the state requires a close-coordination with the locals residents to overcome any misconceptions or misunderstandings.

Speaking to reporters after a program here, DGP Bishnoi said,”A close interaction with the people is required, involvement of the village headman and village defence party to overcome any misconception any misunderstanding, the people contacted myself”.

It maybe mentioned, on Sunday at least 5 people, including 2 BSF personnel, were injured on Sunday night after villagers attacked a border outpost in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district. The incident was reported at around 10 pm at Umsyiem village near Dawki in which BSF personnel fired blank shots into the air to disperse the local residents attempting to attack the BSF outpost.

However, DPG Bishnoi said that the police will communicate with the BSF so no misconceptions arises in the future.

“We will request the BSF to co-operate with the locals police and the people, so that such kind of misconception, misunderstanding, mistrust is not there among the people”, said the DGP.
